Abstract

This chapter focuses on strategies to engage and collaborate with underserved communities with the research process using qualitative methods. Any collaboration with underserved communities should consider the target population, community organizations, or community stakeholder groups as equal partners. These partnerships should consist of trusting, bidirectional, and shared decision-making processes that result in meaningful research projects. Strategies for these approaches are described in detail in this chapter.
