The Art and Science of Data Collection for SDOH in Community Engaged Research (Part 2)
Abstract
This chapter continues the conversation on data collection with topics related to the actual interview. Specifically, the topics in this chapter include the focus group vs one-on-one interview, structure of interview questions (structured, unstructured, semi-structured), conducting follow-up interviews, closing the interview, and notes on taking notes. I describe my experiences with these topics in research projects designed to explore the social support experiences of African American cancer survivors.
