Abstract

This chapter addresses the lack of published material that provides guidance on quantitative data analysis appropriate for those without previous experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing the kinds of data common to biological anthropology and archaeology. This chapter includes a summary of what this book is about, what this book does not address, the data used in this book, and the assumptions made by its author about the background of those who will most benefit from its guidance. This chapter also includes a discussion of the computer requirements and software cited in the text.
