Unable to Find a Home in the City I Now Call My Home
Abstract
Am I really unable to find a home in the city I now call my home? As with many families from Yugoslavia, my parents left home for work before I was born, and I began my movements across borders at only two months. I lived in countless homes, through two wars, waited in immigration queues for hours (but realistically days) and collected stacks of documents to help support my legal status, but I feel fortunate for all the experiences I have had, they have shaped me. I have lived in London for 14 years now and it is longer than I have lived anywhere else in my life. ‘Unable to find a home in the city I now call my home’ draws on moments of my movements to create a choreographed document in support of my existence in this country.
