Georgiana and the Dragon
Abstract
‘Georgiana and the Dragon’ is a personal narrative of the journey from Romania to Lincoln in the pursuit of discovery, exploration and new academic endeavours. With more than a decade of learning and re-learning on how to belong in the places I inhabit, this chapter is an exploration of mundane moments of welcome and unwelcome in academia and my daily life. My belief is that we are all responsible and should bring our sheer level of effort in creating the places we want to call home. The story of St. George who fought the Dragon travelled from East to West and connected places through bravery, faith and unity. In the same way, our journeys should create places of inclusivity, hospitality and belonging as ‘we all belong in the place we call home’.
