The setting
Abstract
The formal treatment setting for psychotic patients is not significantly different from that of neurotic patients. The primary distinction lies in the need to have a psychiatrist available to provide pharmacological therapy until it is necessary. Side by side the analyst must be capable of effective communication with this type of patient, understanding the functioning of a psychotic mind.
