Abstract

The psychotic patient’s analysis cannot rely on interpretative symbolic tools. It is not about revealing unconscious thoughts or unacknowledged aspects of one’s personality. The focus should be on forming an implicit alliance between the healthy part of the patient and the analyst, helping the patient recognize how the psychotic part operates and develop the ability to contain its attempts to seduce and dominate the mind.
