Beyond symptoms
Abstract
Psychotic patients lack a mental apparatus for thinking and perceiving emotions, which fundamentally shapes their condition and challenges the therapeutic process. The analytic relationship is not only necessary to contain, reduce, and eliminate the psychotic symptoms but also to establish the kind of emotional dialogue essential for the patient’s psychological development and growth.
