Abstract

In severe cases, particularly in psychotic patients, the developmental trajectory that occurs in a normal child undergoes significant modifications or disruptions, halting and distorting the natural process of psychological growth. In psychosis, the mind operates as if it were a sensory organ, capable of creating alternative worlds in which the patient can live—a withdrawal of the mind.
