Experiencing Flow
Abstract
Module One , Experiencing Flow , addresses how we define sound and how we experience sound. It also introduces that readers will be exploring, one at a time, the components of sound that make up language. Exercises include active listening and reflection. A correlation between the human voice and an instrument is made. Images of the vocal tract are used to enhance student experience of their own flow of breath and of voice. The anatomy of the larynx is explained. Through a series of exercises, the progression from silent flow, noisy breath, and creaky voice to full phonation is explored. These elements are tested for their role in language
