Abstract

Module Sixteen , Experiencing Acting Choices serves as a culmination of the reader’s experience through the text, as well as an expansion of the concept that speechwork is acting work. In the module, readers are introduced to a final project in game format that requires them to adjust their acoustic and character circumstances. In this project, they test their knowledge and skills in a group setting. The text then introduces discussion points to deepen the new information gained from playing the game. The teaching philosophy behind this is to not only provide an opportunity for the reader to experience mastery, but to do so in a way that reinforces the curious and experiential mindset that is essential to both speechwork and acting work.
