Abstract

Module Seven , Experiencing Language , introduces the second of the three playful “languages” of this text. Omnish, a language meaning “all sounds” and named by Knight-Thompson Speechwork cofounder Dudley Knight, is a subset of the previous language, Outlandish. While Outlandish includes all the possible ways one could obstruct the flow, Omnish includes only sounds that could occur on the IPA Chart. Readers are led through a series of exercises to practice their Omnish, first with the goal of maximum variety, and then later adding meaning to their speech choices. Readers are encouraged to explore Omnish in a variety of acting contexts, culminating in applying the tool to rehearsing a piece of memorized text.
