Abstract

This chapter explores the craft and logistics of studio-based television—the “shiny floor” environment. It discusses developing studio-friendly formats, thorough preproduction, and the relationship between budget, space, and resources. Readers learn about essential technical systems, as well as the roles of the crew in the studio and the control room. We also learn how rundowns, segment planning, and talent coordination come together to create seamless shows. Additionally, we examine the future of multicam television, as well as new technologies and strategies for producing shows for the expanding global market.
