Introduction
Abstract
All journeys involve some kind of movement, but not all of them have a clear beginning or ending. The idea for this collaborative book emerged at some point during the initial development of the international Qualified Teacher Status (iQTS) teacher training programme. iQTS is a professional qualification, backed by the Department of Education and United Kingdom (UK) government, aimed at both non-UK and UK citizens living outside of England who train in education settings in their home country. Prior to the programme's launch, I had been working closely with Lorna Hughes, then School Lead for Internationalisation at Canterbury Christ Church University, on the development of the Post Graduate Certificate in Education international (PGCEi) collaborating first with our partners in Pakistan and subsequently with partners in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The PGCEi was developed remotely when the COVID-19 pandemic stalled our plans to travel to Pakistan; however, post lockdown, Lorna was able to organise for members of the iQTS team to travel with her to prospective partner schools around the globe.
