Abstract

Dr. Javid Ahmad Reshi is an Assistant Professor of English at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University in Jalandhar, Punjab. He carries with him four years of teaching experience across schools and universities, but his journey began far from the halls of academia—in the remote mountain village of Bothoo in Kashmir’s Bandipora district. In a place cut off from the world, where roads barely reach, and education is a rare treasure, Dr. Reshi was the first in his village to complete formal schooling. As the eldest of five siblings, he took it upon himself to teach children in his village for over ten years, offering his knowledge freely to those who had little access to it. His determination to rise beyond the boundaries of his land and circumstances is a testament to his resilience and hope. During his PhD, he was honored with the Maulana Azad Fellowship and remains an active member of literary communities that fuel his passion for language and memory. Beyond teaching, Dr. Reshi dreams of giving back to his roots by building a community library in Bothoo—a place where the light of learning can shine for generations to come.
