Abstract

This chapter will nominate three forms of advocacy and activism through which architects and architecture can perform a significant role. The first is to highlight the importance of campaigning for the continued participation of lived experience, raising cognisance of the imperative contribution this makes in the future shaping of our built environment. Secondly, defining collaborative approaches to design, and how they are formed, shaped, and managed. And thirdly, raising the importance of reciprocity, and establishing what architecture, and individual architects, could give back to the processes of design and those we work alongside and learn from to achieve them.
