Abstract

This chapter teaches readers about analyses they can use to answer research questions about repeated measure data – data gathered on the same individuals on multiple occasions (e.g., before and after an intervention and at follow-up or as a part of a longitudinal study) and/or related data – data collected on multiple members of the same family or several people who were matched on some characteristic but experienced different experimental conditions. The analyses require statistical techniques for within-subjects and mixed designs . Readers will learn about the assumptions of the tests, as well as how to run and interpret them. In addition to the commonly used parametric tests – repeated and mixed ANOVA – readers will learn about a nonparametric statistic, the Friedman test, which is similar to the repeated-measures ANOVA.
