Abstract

This chapter presents a fresh approach to mentoring in early childhood education that emphasizes the importance of relationships and diverse perspectives. It challenges traditional mentoring methods by advocating for reciprocal relationships, highlighting the critical role of children’s voices and input from various stakeholders. This chapter offers practical strategies for integrating these different perspectives into mentoring practices, demonstrating how this can benefit both mentors and mentees. It also explores the challenges and advantages of adopting a reciprocal mentoring model, aligning with the AKO framework of teaching and learning. Ultimately, this chapter encourages educators to rethink their mentoring strategies and embrace the value of listening to a wide range of voices, fostering more effective and engaging mentoring in early childhood education.
