Beyond Recovery
Abstract
This chapter situates contemporary organizational leadership in a landscape marked by relentless disruption, where fragility, anxiety, and complexity define the new normal. Drawing on research with thirty-six leaders who guided their organizations through economic crises, restructuring, and the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Lintz advances the case that resilience in leadership is more than recovery. Through qualitative insights and real-world cases, Lintz argues that resilience serves as a guiding principle, embodied in daily behaviors, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and the fostering of psychological safety. Leaders are called to nurture resilience at both personal and systemic levels by embedding it into culture, communication, and development pathways. The chapter's core contribution is to position resilience as an organizational strategy that transforms response into growth, showing how its intentional cultivation helps leaders and teams withstand disruption and ultimately become stronger and more adaptive.
