Abstract

This chapter covers the formation of a project nexus: the shared understanding that aligns teams, stakeholders, and strategy at the start of an initiative. It introduces three anchoring tools—a high-level timeline, a system overview, and a high-level design for uncovering unknowns—designed to clarify objectives without overcommitting to false certainty. By combining early structure with adaptive planning, the nexus helps teams move forward with confidence, even when much remains unclear. This chapter positions the nexus not as a fixed plan, but as a dynamic reference point that evolves as alignment grows—giving organizations a way to start moving while still learning.
