Abstract

This chapter covers the challenge of building and sustaining confidence in innovation projects, where outcomes are uncertain. It explores how doubt emerges not just from setbacks, but from the absence of visible signals of success—especially when traditional belief systems tied to predictability and control no longer apply. The chapter introduces practical strategies to make progress despite ambiguity in the long-term objectives. Creating a framework for advancement—even when answers are incomplete—helps to reinforce momentum and help the team stay focused through inevitable moments of uncertainty. Part I showed how to build alignment to enable success. Now we will use this alignment to drive decisions as we progress to the implementation.
