Stakeholder Management
Abstract
This chapter covers the critical role of stakeholder and sponsor relationships in innovation projects. Unlike traditional projects, innovation efforts often evolve rapidly, which can leave external stakeholders confused, skeptical, or disengaged. This chapter explores how managing expectations is key to maintaining trust and support. It offers strategies to navigate political dynamics, protect the project from premature judgment, and ensure that key supporters remain committed even when progress appears messy. By treating stakeholders as allies to be informed and empowered—not just updated—project leaders can build the relationships that provide cover, resources, and stability when they’re needed most.
