Abstract

The final chapter pulls together the lessons gleaned from these interviews and provides a discussion of the implications for future work and applications of these insights. It presents a framework for understanding the elements of the safety dance and the factors impacting it in the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals. Limitations of the study itself are discussed, and some recommendations are made for next steps. It ends on a note about the larger meaning captured here. This hidden “dance” most LGBTQ individuals must engage in not only shines a light on the realities of the social stigma that persists years after legal changes have been enacted, but also highlights what individuals and larger organizations can do to promote and pursue true inclusion.
