If you carefully ask yourself … why an American or French feminist will think that I am less clever than she in grasping patriarchal degradation schemes, you realize that it gives her an immediate control of the situation; she is the leader and I the follower. She, in spite of her claimed desire to change the system and make it more egalitarian for women, retains … the racist and imperialist Western male distorting drives. Even when faced with an Arab woman who has similar diplomas, knowledge, and experience, she unconsciously reproduces the supremacist colonial power. 1
