Rewriting the Broken Narrative
Abstract
This chapter explores meaning-making as a central process in suicide prevention, examining how individuals construct, lose, and reclaim a sense of purpose. Drawing from narrative therapy, existential psychology, and post-traumatic growth, it highlights how broken stories—ones rooted in loss, failure, or isolation—can be rewritten in ways that restore agency, connection, and future possibilities.
