Concluding Remarks
Abstract
These final remarks summarize the main ideas and discussions of the previous chapters. This conclusion reiterates the key insight brought by Lacan in his mirror stage (the split in the ego between its body and itself), and the consequence the subject provides in the relation humans have towards animals, towards their own image and towards their political identity. It proposes a final reflection on a quote found in the last paragraph of the Lacanian text on the mirror stage, with regard to what is specifically psychoanalytic and what contributes to a psychologized version of the ego. In this respect, a recent film provides a staging of this split found within our/selves.
