Closing Remarks
Abstract
As a compilation, this book has highlighted the multifaceted nature of student support and services in Southern Africa. The book has also shown how different aspects of support feed into a healthy, well-adjusted student population that is more likely to be fulfilled and to succeed academically and beyond. However, in putting together this body of work, we have also become even more aware of the need for an increase in the documentation of issues relating to the various initiatives and innovations in the Southern African student support space. While there is some movement towards the documenting of programmes, there is the need for more intentional movement towards data driven approaches, which are important if we are to continue justifying support structures and pushing for the upscaling of support services. This book only begins to scratch the surface when it comes to the student support offerings across the region.
