Abstract

Managing and leading through uncertainty and change is a requirement in most workplaces today. Neurodivergent individuals can have a different relationship to change than their neurotypical peers. Using the EKR Change Curve® as a structure, this chapter looks at how neurodivergent individuals might respond emotionally to workplace change, and what approaches managers might take to ease the process and minimise disruption. It also introduces the Circle of Influence model, which managers can use to help reduce overwhelm and improve agency within their team. This chapter considers how change also creates greater opportunity for innovation and growth, which some neurotypes may relish. The chapter concludes with a practical checklist for leading change in the workplace to encourage involvement, communication and curiosity.
