The industrial production system has gone through a series of transformations: from its First Industrial Revolution (i.e., Industry 1.0 to the imminent one (i.e., Industry 6.0). This chapter offers a comprehensive review of the six industrial revolutions, from the mechanization of the 18th century to the emerging technologies of Industry 6.0 and beyond. Furthermore, we examine the Industry X for X = 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0; state of the art; and propose an in-depth future roadmap for the future, i.e., Industry 6.0, including the potential benefits and challenges. Besides, in each era of the Industrial Revolution, specifically, in the era of Industry X for X = 4.0, 5.0, and 6.0, the biased evolution for other technology domains, e.g., Healthcare X, Agriculture X, Education X, and Society X, for X = 4.0, 5.0, and 6.0, the key features are briefly discussed.
