Abstract

The University of Melbourne (The University) is committed to supporting student wellbeing and mental health in a community that is inclusive and celebrates diversity. Data highlighted in the University of Melbourne’s Student Wellbeing and Mental Health Framework shows that around 1 in 4 students experience significant psychological distress, and more than 1 in 5 experience mental illness while at university. To address these concerns, the Wellbeing Literacy Campaign was developed. The university-wide campaign promotes a stepped care approach to the provision of mental health and wellbeing support in building a wellbeing-supportive community that enhances the University’s academic mission, providing an environment where students can thrive and experience success.
