Abstract

This concluding chapter synthesises key insights and themes from the various research studies, whole-of-institution approaches, and good practice examples presented throughout the edited collection. Drawing upon evidence-based strategies, innovative approaches, and recommendations, it outlines practical and policy implications for higher education institutions, educators, and support service providers. The chapter emphasises the value of focusing research and student wellbeing initiatives at three interrelated and hierarchical levels: the curriculum, whole-of-institution, and whole-of-sector. It stresses the need for universities to move beyond merely providing mental health and counselling services to addressing systemic, academic, cultural, and environmental factors that shape student experiences and wellbeing. Looking toward an increasingly uncertain future and a rapidly evolving higher education sector, the chapter highlights the need to develop comprehensive, adaptive, and sustainable approaches to supporting and promoting student wellbeing.
