The Simple Faith Narrative
Abstract
The Simple Faith Narrative portrays faith as immediate rather than hard-won. Constituting 17 percent of the dataset, these stories move quickly from admiration of exemplars to awe before the holy and devotion in self-offering. The chapter proposes a novel theory of religious exemplarism: a model that treats awe, devotion, and admiration as co-determinants of religious formation and as defining features of religion itself. This framework bridges psychological insight with theological depth, reflecting how some Gen Zers experience the sacred as both felt and known.
