Intergenerational Nature Education
Abstract
Åsa Ståhl and Mathilda Tham reimagine nature education through design pedagogy, drawing on their Design + Change programs at Linnaeus University in Sweden. Positioning Earth as a site for collaborative design, they introduce natureculture as a framework for understanding the entanglement of humans and more-than-human worlds. Their chapter highlights metadesign practices that challenge dominant growth logics and emphasize care, unlearning, and ecological literacy. Through immersive learning experiences such as sketching insects, engaging with mobile learning spaces, and digital forest visits, they show how learners can develop responsibility and agency in shaping sustainable futures.
