Consequences
Abstract
The final chapter introduces three consequences of adopting the money-purpose attitude within medicine. These must be viewed both as empirical illustrations of earlier theoretical points and as extensions of them. Meaninglessness emerges as a direct consequence of money being a non-value, which cannot generate meaning. From this arises another manifestation: burnout, linked to immense mental and physical energy expenditure without a meaningful basis toward which these efforts are directed. Finally, loneliness results when social relations crumble due to an excessive fixation on money.
