Abstract

Our work is an approximation, in the line in which José Luis Villacañas works his approach to the reading of Pierre Dardot and Christian Laval in Neoliberalism as Political Theology as a method of reading. To approach his thesis “neoliberalism as the temporary solution to the problems of legitimacy of late capitalism”, we make a point of comparison between the reading made by José Luis Villacañas based on his reading of Jürgen Habermas and Michael Foucault’s The Birth of Biopolitics, with the Latin American approaches on the origin of neoliberalism, especially the work of Franz Hinkelammert who shares with Villacañas the theological-political reading of neoliberalism. From Chile, as epicenter of the neoliberal experiment, the interest is to gather the conclusions of José Luis Villacañas, who defines neoliberalism as the last theological expression of contemporary capitalism, reinforcing his thesis from a reading of neoliberalism that advances towards a look of the totality of the problem, in an approach of authors and traditions that approach the failure of ordoliberalism, the nihilistic situation, the birth of a new utopian capitalism; and the counterweight between the French May and the coup d’état of 1973.
