Katiraivēr Piḷḷai's Rejection of ‘Aruṭpā’
Abstract
Nāvalar passed away on the 5th of December, 1879. Eight years before in 1871, Katiraivēṟ Piḷḷai was born in MēlaipPulōli, Jaffna. Nāvalar did not appear to have given him even an initiation into education. However, Katiraivēṟ Piḷḷai’s life was inevitably intertwined with Nāvalar’s (Boologasingam, 1993: 219).
