Abstract

This chapter highlights the importance of schools focusing on both the implementation process and the content to be implemented, within the framework of implementation science. It describes implementation drivers and how they work together. Competency drivers focus on capability-building, organisation drivers refer to the infrastructure which supports implementation, and leadership drivers help maintain momentum and overcome challenges. Four stages of implementation (exploration, installation, initial implementation, full implementation) are described, with examples of tasks to be undertaken at each stage. The chapter also introduces the SWPBS implementation model and shows how schools can use the five interactive elements of outcomes, data, systems, practices, and equity to drive action planning.
