Abstract
The focus of this chapter is the establishment of school-wide expectations. The chapter explains the importance of having clearly stated positive expectations and offers guidelines to help schools develop appropriate expectations for their context. The teaching matrix is introduced as a tool to identify and organise the behaviour skills which need to be taught to students in order for them to meet school-wide expectations. Misunderstandings about the purpose and use of the teaching matrix are addressed. A team activity with steps for matrix development concludes the chapter.
