Artificial intelligence in higher education
Abstract
This chapter begins with an overview of artificial intelligence (AI) to provide a deeper understanding of the technology, prior to an in-depth examination of its applicability and impact on student learning. The chapter is divided into two main sections. The first section provides an overview of AI, discussing key definitions, its evolution, and the relationship between machine learning, deep learning, and AI. The second section describes the current applicability of AI in higher education institutions by referring to the most relevant AI tools presently used by students, the modes of learning, and the learning theories.
