Abstract

This chapter explores the notion of city power. It focuses on defining it in the book’s broader context and in relation to other technical terms such as citizen, urban resident, civil, and eco-civil. It also connects this term to theoretical devices such as moral ordering and co-planning. The goal is to examine city power in ways that show what it is and what it can do. By reviewing this concept, the author holds that it will help think through the ways that city planning can secure outcomes favoring the good life in the city.
