The Fight for Resilience
Abstract
The ideas explored in this chapter offer a new perspective on a community-focused account of resilience. Examining them in this context can inform more effective ways to contend with unavoidable tragedies. This notion shows that much more interdisciplinary research is required to map the necessary considerations for equitable treatment before and after extreme weather events. In turn, this chapter focuses on the ethical and existential dimensions of these issues, which is atypical for dealing with such subjects in some cases. By thinking through the preparation and clean-up efforts in this manner, it shows that, in the fight for resilience, this notion must be a continuous process.
