Abstract

The introduction gives a brief history of Teatro Chicano de Laredo (TCDL) from its conception to its execution. The passage utilizes the ideas of a railroad track and the I-35 highway moving, interweaving to tie into the concept of motion. The section begins by defining the Borderlands, discusses the definition of Chicana/o/e/x, and includes a paragraph on the history of theatre in Laredo, Texas. The intro explores the various theatres (Laredo Little Theatre, Laredo Theatre Guild International, LITE, theatre, and BALL productions). Upon examining the tenure of the different houses, we discover that they primarily produce theatre as a form of entertainment. In contrast, TCDL initially utilizes the space to disrupt the order by pointing the finger at the structures that oppress them.
