Abstract

This book focuses on the transformative power of art as a tool for teaching and learning. Through the lens of the Sustainability Mindset Principles, the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the Inner Development Goals, 36 contributors from 17 countries show how arts-based interventions in education for sustainability are becoming a gamechanger for addressing complex environmental, social, and economic challenges. By integrating creative, art-based approaches into education for sustainability we can catalyze transformative shifts in mindsets and enable the participatory learning needed to create lasting change. The authors share personal stories, practical experiences, and reflective discussions on how the power of art can spark meaningful change and accelerate the path towards a just, sustainable future. Part I of our collection focuses on educators as artists, while Part II examines art and action. In Part III, our contributors are using art for creating aesthetic space. Part IV looks at the intersection of digital technologies and crafts in art-based pedagogies.
