Integrating family experiences and business concepts for sustainable student development
Abstract
This chapter discusses the integration of the Inner Development Goals (IDG) within the Student-Centric Experiential Learning (SCEL) method, emphasizing how familial experiences can significantly enhance students&s; understanding of complex business concepts. By sharing personal stories and experiences, I illustrate how SCEL enables students to connect their unique narratives to key business principles, facilitating a deeper understanding of otherwise abstract concepts. This narrative approach serves as a powerful platform for transforming explicit content into tacit knowledge, focusing on improving their learning experience. Through reflective discussions and innovative pedagogical interventions, students actively engage with the IDG framework, fostering both personal growth and a sustainability mindset essential for tackling today&s;s challenges. The chapter encourages readers to consider specific actions—such as leveraging the power of storytelling, particularly through familial narratives in education—that can empower future leaders to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development, connecting collective anecdotes to their personal development and broader societal challenges.
