Abstract

Conceptual art prioritises ideas over aesthetics revealing the artists&s; wants and desires, with AI art technologies offering possibilities for non-artists, enabling them to create appealing artwork through user-friendly interfaces making art accessible and enjoyable. An extracurricular programme for undergraduates at a Malaysian private university comprised two workshops; first introducing students to DALL-E, an AI arts tool, to experiment with generating natural language text and refining their inputs to create desired artistic outputs and the second workshop focusing on creative writing to develop a 300-word piece supporting their artwork. The learning outcome was &s;To explore artistically the conceptualisation of future cities by today&s;s youth&s;. The workshops enabled youth to explore and communicate their ideas on crucial urban challenges by integrating different art forms of visuals and creative writing. These workshops aimed to inspire participants to shift towards inclusive, resilient, and environmentally sustainable urban landscapes by fostering youth participation and promoting socio-economic growth and environmental stewardship.
