Abstract

Parcs et Sports, a worker cooperative specializing in landscaping and sports ground maintenance, demonstrates the success of combining professional excellence with cooperative values. It was formed in 1988 by 22 workers investing their redundancy payments after their previous employer’s bankruptcy. Through innovation, diversification (acquiring Express Gazon in 2001, Fiandino in 2009, and Provence Jardins in 2019), and a strong commitment to environmental responsibility (ISO 14001 certified, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2024), the company has grown to employ 285 workers across seven sites in France, generating €60 million in annual sales. Its cooperative model, fostering a strong sense of solidarity and worker participation, is a key factor in its success, with over one-third of its workers (including those of its subsidiaries) being members. Under the leadership of CEO Antoine Pechuzal, Parcs et Sports continues to innovate, adapts to market changes and maintains its commitment to both economic performance and social responsibility.
