Abstract

AGRESTA, a worker cooperative founded in Madrid in 2000, provides environmental consultancy services and forestry solutions. Starting with ten forestry engineering graduates, it now employs 50 people across Spain, with 40% women and 15% under 35. AGRESTA’s mission is to improve forest territory using innovation and cooperative values, focusing on sustainable forest management and mitigating climate change through technological solutions and R&D. Their innovative approach, including flexible work arrangements and a commitment to work-life balance, has led to numerous awards, including the 2023 European Social Economy Awards in the Green Transition category. The cooperative’s success is attributed to its democratic structure and collective decision-making, fostering a strong sense of shared responsibility and job security among its members.
