Abstract

This chapter focusses on identifying the directions of change in employment related to the development of the digital economy. The main areas of change relate to changes between sectors and industries of the national economy. The chapter identifies the changes resulting from the growing demand for modern and advanced employee qualifications and skills. Artificial intelligence contributes to changes in employee qualifications, competencies, and skills, as confirmed by source data on threats resulting from the implementation of AI tools in organisations. These changes may contribute to the digital and social exclusion of certain social groups. The development of the digital economy is based on the implementation of AI tools and advanced ICT tools, which enable the implementation of new work methods and work organisation (remote work, platform work), which require legal regulations related to social security. The chapter presents the main causes of these changes and provides examples of the emergence and disappearance of certain professions in the labour market.
