Abstract

After the crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare organizations throughout the entire supply chain are turning their attention to the future to look for answers to the questions, “What could we have done differently?” and “How should we prepare for future pandemics and other crises?” Federal, state, and local government agencies are reacting similarly with a number of supply-chain-related proposals. Much of this activity could have possibly been avoided if unique identification standards had been adopted across the healthcare supply chain.
