Abstract

Robots in the healthcare supply chain and the medical field are transforming how surgeries are performed, streamlining supply delivery and preventing infections, thus enabling providers to focus on engaging with and caring for patients. Robots first started to appear in the 1980s. The first robots in the healthcare industry only provided surgical assistance with the use of a robotic arm. That is as far as the technology was capable of at the time. Over the decades, AI, as discussed in a prior chapter, enabled data analytics, transforming the role of medical robots to be used in many other areas of healthcare supply chain.
